Bloodborne Pathogens

Bags, disposal & disposal locations

Bags and containers of this type ARE NOT INTENDED FOR SHARPS!
They may be used to dispose of used rubber gloves, contaminated bandages, ems equipment or personal clothing that has been contaminated.

Rubber gloves used for cleaning (not cleaning medical equipment) or mechanical work around the station must be placed in some container where they are not visible in a regular trash can.

If an individual sees a rubber glove in a regular trash can, even if it has been used for regular cleaning, he or she must assume it is contaminated with Bloodborne Pathogens!

Rubber gloves used for cleaning or mechanical work should not be disposed of in a biohazard bag. It generally costs money to dispose of biohazard waste.
